The High Calling of Motherhood
Good news! God has equipped you with everything you need to fulfill the high calling of motherhood.
Dear Moms,
May I have your ear for a moment? Will you heed the advice of one who is well aware of her mistakes and is now watching grandchildren grow up in the blink of an eye?
Fallacies are running rampant among your peers.
When the pressure is high to believe otherwise, please know this:
Motherhood is the highest calling.
God hand-selected you to be your child's mom. He equipped you to carry and give birth to each one of your little ones. He equipped you to know them best and love them most. Relax, Mom. He equipped you to do the job well. Not perfectly, but well.
Motherhood requires sacrifice and selflessness.
Doing the job well requires work on your part. There's no such thing as me-time when it comes to being a mom. Motherhood is a 24/7/365 job.
There will be times you must sacrifice your wants for their needs. You'll have to say no to the trip, the night out, or the afternoon of pampering.
Reach down deep and pull out every ounce of selflessness and sacrifice. You won’t regret wearing it well.
Motherhood Requires Discipline
Keep your priorities in check, Mom.
I understand that some days seem to last forever. The years, however, are flying by.
Do you realize that you only get eighteen summers with your children?
Finish well, Mom. I've yet to know an older woman who regretted one moment she invested in her children.
Some practical advice?
Don’t accept disobedience, disrespect, or dishonesty - from your children or yourself.
Have fun. Make memories. Laugh a lot. Don't sweat the small stuff.
Let them learn the value of hard work, academic achievement, and teamwork.
Make sure your boys spend plenty of time with their dad and other godly men to learn how to become a man - and how to treat women with dignity and respect.
Teach your daughters the worth of being a woman and place godly women along their paths.
Above all else, introduce your children to Jesus. Show them by example that their identity rests in Christ.
~
She is clothed with strength and dignity, she can laugh at the days to come.
