What Are You Reading This Summer?

What are you reading this summer? My friend Karen recommended this book. (Oh, to have such wisdom!)

What are you reading this summer? My friend Karen recommended The Noticer: Sometimes, all you need is a little perspective by Andy Andrews. I really enjoyed it! I wish I had a Jones! Better yet, I wish I possessed the wisdom, compassion, and timing of Jones!

Being the exciting person I am (not!), I also read The Gentle Art of Swedish Death Cleaning: How to Free Yourself and Your Family from a Lifetime of Clutter.

Confession: I didn't need to read this book. The Boyfriend claims I'm a cheap date because my favorite place to go is the dump. I'm a minimalist, and the only sentimental bone in my body is in my pinky finger. Still, I love to read organizing books. I found the philosophy behind this book to be thought-provoking-especially the part about getting rid of things early to help your family avoid conflict following your death.

I've read many books with my grandchildren as well. One of our favorites so far has been The Raft by Jim LaMarche. It inspired us to build a raft from twigs and float it down a creek. We also made cornbread. Next week, we'll try our hand at an oil pastel of a bird.

Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.
-Philippians 4:8, ESV
